Every now and then I get messages on LinkedIn about people either fresh out of college, or early in a more conventional industry, wanting to make a switch to SaaS. And a lot of times I end up sending them on the same conquest that I undertook - this time, a more guided one.
Few return. But those who do are wiser, more aware, and ready to either get into the industry or retire into Middle Earth. However, the one-on-one mentoring takes a lot of time and is not accessible to a lot of smart folks who just don't want to reach out actively (yes, I am looking at you - my nerdy introverted geniuses).
So, I figured, I will collate the list of resources across my Notion notebook, and put it up here. So that no one would need to make an effort to break the ice anymore. And still, get what they came for. So, here it goes - resources that I referred to self-teach myself the early ropes of SaaS.
SaaS Fundamentals
SEO
SEM / PPC
Content Marketing
Demand Generation
Product Marketing
That’s all the links I remember and had in my bookmarks. I know there are obvious missing parts - social media and ABM to name the big two. But the thing is, both of these I learned on the job, and I didn’t refer to a recorded material for it. And putting Googled links here just for making this a comprehensive post, wouldn’t do justice.
However, if you have come across a piece truly valuable during your exploration, I would love to vet and include it.
All the best for your career building. And see you on the inside, soon.
Finally a great resource. I have been learning and upskilling myself in SaaS thanks to the awesome folks at All Things SaaS: https://allthingsaas.com/. I completed two tracks of their cohort program. I have been one of their biggest lead gen sources. :P
